How do we get a good deal on a house alarm?
We bought a new house where we have about 6 doors, and 6 windows we need to put sensors on. Just over the phone with the companies, the cheapest we could find is through ADT which quoted about $800 to install. That seems rediculous to pay when they want your monthly service business too. Is there a way to get a deal through a distributor for cheaper install fees? I don’t care if it’s ADT, Brinks, or whoever.
Any company will want a one or two year contract for a “free” system. The last home I had, I purchased a Keepsafer brand system (www.keepsafer.com) You can get any options you want and buy a few at a time or all at once. The one I got was a wireless system and very easy to do. There was no monthly fee because it called my phone number. So it was monitored by me and no contract. However; My new home had to be monitored for insurance purposes. I went with Guardian Security because it was cheapest in our area. Another option you may want to check is a hard wired system from Radioshack. most of them can be installed pretty easy and then monitored by a smaller local company for about $15 bucks around here. I found this out after I signed a two year contract with Guardian. Just keep doing your homework and you will find your best option. Good luck…
